Dressmaker Trim Placement: Build 443 Controls
Fast Trim Placement, the trim duplicate button, end-node selection and negative heights arrived in Build 443. How each control works and when to use it.
Trim used to be the slowest part of a dress. Build 443 rewrote how it is placed, and the changes are mostly about click count.
The controls that changed
| Control | What it does now |
|---|---|
| Fast Trim Placement | Places trim with far fewer clicks, and doubles as an accessibility option |
| End-node selection | Click an end node to select it, click again to extend |
| Persistent selection | The selection survives after a piece is placed |
| Duplicate button | Drops a new piece at the same height, size and tilt |
| Negative heights | Trim can sit below zero |
| Drag to rotate | Rotating the mannequin now works inside the trim tool |
Fast Trim Placement is the real change
Every other addition supports one idea: stop moving the camera between each segment. Fast Trim Placement does it directly, and it is also the accessibility path for players who cannot repeat hundreds of precise clicks.
Turn it on when you are laying a long run along a hem. Turn it off when you need a piece at an exact angle, because the snapping that makes it fast also fights a hand-placed corner.
Duplicate instead of redraw
A cuff and the opposite cuff are usually the same trim at the same height and tilt. The duplicate button copies all three values, which is the difference between placing one piece and building a pair.
Negative heights are the companion feature. A trim that hangs below the mannequin’s base plane is what a dropped hem looks like, and before 443 there was no value for it.
Why the trim looks slightly different now
The same patch fixed trims that carried a default tilt offset, which made some of them clip. The visible cost is that a dress where you manually corrected tilt may now sit marginally off.
That is expected rather than a new bug. If a specific trim looks wrong after the update, report it with the dress name and the trim type; the developer asked for those reports by name.
The full Build 443 list is on the patch notes page. Scoring moved in the same update and is explained on how scoring works.
