Dressmaker Cutting Room: Build 443 Changes

The scissors can only discard fabric on request, a button grabs every panel piece, and panning works inside the cutting room since Build 443.

The cutting room is where a dress stops being a sketch. Build 443 changed three things there: how fabric is lost, how panels are grabbed, and how the camera moves.

Fabric loss is now deliberate

The scissors used to be able to discard fabric while you were cutting. They now only discard when the discard fabric button was clicked first.

The developer’s note names the reason directly: someone lost five metres of velvet to a misclick. If you have ever cut into a panel while aiming at a seam, this change is for you.

Why the layout moved

Buttons that sit in a row with no grouping get misclicked under time pressure. The patch repositions several of them and adds hover text, which is a small change with a large effect on the first ten minutes of a session.

The scissors rule and old habits

If you learned to cut quickly by discarding as you go, the new rule adds one action per discard. That is a deliberate trade: two clicks instead of one, in exchange for never losing fabric you did not mean to lose.

Work in this order until the habit settles: lay out panels, trim with the scissors, then discard the offcuts in one pass. That keeps the discard action at the end, where a mistake costs nothing.

Trim controls are on trim placement, and the score side of a dress is on how scoring works.
